From helping students find the book that finally gets them hooked, to keeping students AND staff a little competitive with reading challenges throughout the year, these two are always finding ways to make reading fun and keep BMS turning pages.

They help make the BMS library a place where students feel welcome and supported.

💜 Meet the BMS Counselors! 💛 Middle school comes with a little bit of everything: friendships, big feelings, schedule questions, growing pains, and the occasional “I literally cannot do this today.”😂 Mrs. O’Neal, 7th Grade Counselor, and Mrs. Foster, 8th Grade Counselor are here for all of it. Whether students need help working through something, figuring out their next step, or just need a safe place to land, their doors are always open. They’re ready for another year of cheering on BMS Tigers and helping them navigate the world of middle school!🐯

The first day of school is almost here, and we want to make sure you and your student feel confident, informed, and READY! 💜

📍1st Day Procedures:
– Homeroom rosters will be posted at the bus ramp and cafeteria📝
– Students should report directly to their homeroom (skip the gym!)
– Staff will be in the hallways to help guide students to the right place
– Paper schedules will be handed out during homeroom

🚗Carline Details:
– Drop-off begins at 7:10 AM
– Follow the correct route by entering on Rubicon Road and at the BMS entrance
– Use the designated drop-off zones only
– If you’re dropping off for both BMS & BIS, follow the BMS line

As always, we kindly ask for your patience and grace—the first day always comes with a few bumps as everyone learns the flow. We promise to be out there helping every step of the way!

Strike a chord! Here’s news that is music to our ears.

Over the summer, a trio of Benton Middle School 8th grade band students made their debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City!

Kylie Adams, Om Ganapathy and Madison Hollins earned the chance to play in the world-famous concert venue as part of the Honors Performance Series, an international middle school honor band. Students all over the world sent recorded submissions to earn the chance to play. Kylie, Om and Madison sent their recordings last fall and got word last spring they were on their way to the Big Apple.

Benton Middle School Band Director CJ Pernici is over the moon the elite three had this amazing opportunity. The trio will now be freshmen at Benton High this school year and in the Tiger Band.

What a great way to kick off the new school year!💜💛 Today we welcomed our teachers back to campus for in-service, enjoyed a wonderful breakfast thanks to Mon Ami Pharmacy, and wrapped up the evening by getting to see so many of our students and families at Back to School Night. Seeing our halls full again was a great reminder that the best part of a new school year is the people who make it so special. We can’t wait to welcome our Tigers back on Thursday and get this year started! Here’s to a great year ahead!🐯📚

Join us Tuesday, August 4, from 5:00–7:00 PM for a come-and-go evening at Benton Middle!

Please begin in the BMS gymnasium, where students will receive their schedules. From there, you’ll be able to:

🎒 Drop off school supplies
💊 Drop off medication for the school year
💌 Stop by the library to write a special note for your student to receive on the first day of school

Be sure to visit the cafeteria, where spirit wear, lanyards, yard signs, and opportunities to support BMS through a PTO donation will be available.

We're sharing important back-to-school reminders each day to help our Tiger families get ready for a fantastic year at Benton Middle.

📱 Reminder: Devices stay put away during the instructional day.

To help minimize distractions and maximize learning:
• Phones and smart watches should be powered off and placed in backpacks before students arrive on campus.
• Devices must remain powered off and stored away until dismissal at 2:40 p.m.
• Headphones and earbuds should not be worn or visible while on campus.

💛The countdown to the first day of school is on!💜 Over the next several days, we’ll be sharing important back-to-school reminders to help our Tigers start the year off right. 📛 Today’s reminder: Badge Up, Tigers! All students are required to wear their school ID every day. IDs and clips will be provided during the first week of school and should be worn on the front right chest area (not on backpacks or in pockets). A few additional reminders: • Replacement badges are $5. • Students needing a replacement ID should request one through their homeroom teacher. • Only purple, yellow, white, gray, or navy lanyards are permitted. • Breakaway lanyards and retractable badge holders are not allowed. • Students who do not have their ID will receive an ID violation. An accumulation of violations will result in disciplinary consequences. Be sure to save this post for reference, and we’ll see everyone soon!🐅
