Makenzie Chaffin not only exudes Tiger Pride but is an awesome basketball player and representative for Bossier Parish Schools as well.The Benton Middle School eighth grader is this year's Bossier Parish Middle School Student of the Year and will go to regionals next month. This morning, she received personal congratulatory wishes from Superintendent D.C. Machen, who came by during P.E. class. Congratulations Makenzie!

Chandler Burns competed at the Region I Social Studies Fair at LSUS with his project, "Volkswagen Beetle: The People's Car" and won Region I Division II (middle school grades 6-8) Economics Division, Region I Division II Grand Prize (overall middle school winner from all categories), and THEN he won the 2015 Region I Social Studies Fair Grand Prize! This means that he won the one and only overall award for all Divisions I, II, and III (elem, middle, high) for Region I, which consists of Caddo, Desoto, Red River, Bossier, and Webster Parishes! He will be competing in the Louisiana Social Studies Fair on April 29th in Lake Charles, LA. Hoping he brings home a big state win!
Young Authors' Contest
Congratulations to Gannon Matlock and Shane Hartnett for being named winners in the Bossier Parish Young Authors' contest. Gannon won for his story titled The Magnificent Mr. Pen and Shane won for his story titled The Day I Became a Man. Congratulations guys.
Congratulations to the following teachers as they were awarded the Quality Science and Mathematics (QSM) grants this year: Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Bruton, Mrs. Vishnefski, Mrs. Roundtree, Ms. Boggs, and Mr. Ter Haar. Combined they were awarded $4,243.00.
